      RC of Biratnagar Downtown's initiative to address water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) needs for children with cerebral palsy at the Aadarsh Vidyalaya, ‘Celebral Palsy Day Care Center’ is impactful. They constructed a dedicated toilet and water station, benefiting 15 disabled children.
      RC of Biratnagar Downtown organized a free eye checkup camp at Manav Sewa Ashram, By the facilitation of Ram Lal Golchha Eye Hospital Biratnagar and Tilganga institute of ophthalmology,
      120 residents received the benefit of this program.

      RC of Biratnagar Downtown exemplified its commitment to community service by donating two thela rickshaws to financially vulnerable women, enabling them to attain self-sustainability.

      Rotary Club of Biratnagar Downtown extended a heartwarming gesture by donating warm clothes to its adopted school, Shiv Aadharbhut Vidyalaya on 1st January.
      A total of 149 cozy sweaters were distributed, ensuring that the students could brave the winter chill with comfort and warmth. Meanwhile, on the 3rd of January in Budhanagar village, our club reached out to support 30 single mothers. These resilient women were provided with saris, sweaters, essential toiletries, and health tonics, addressing both practical needs and health concerns during the harsh weather.
      The distribution of sarees and sweets to 50 lady road sweepers on 1st November, during Diwali aimed at spreading joy and making them feel appreciated. Each gift, presented in a cloth bag adorned with a Rotary logo and club name emblem, reflected a sustainable approach by utilizing old clothes for stitching—a project promoting the best out of waste.
      Deputy Mayor Shilpa Nirala Karki graced the occasion as the distinguished chief guest, adding significance to the event. Seeing the happiness of the lady sweepers during the festive season was very thoughtful.

        In the form of vocational training "Mushroom Farming" training was started with a theory class followed by practical. Local villagers and the principal of the school helped us to organize the program.
        Rajan Rajwanshi, who has acquired a diploma in agriculture farming was the trainer. Mushrooms in the first phase will be harvested in 35-40 days.
        This initiative has had a profound impact, enhancing the women's self-reliance and income-generating abilities. After 35 days the villagers are very happy to see the harvested mushrooms.
        RC of Biratnagar Downtown also organized a 3 month sewing course as “Vocational Training” for 20 underprivileged women. From this training they will be able to support themselves financially as well as gain useful skills.

        RC of Biratnagar Downtown, in collaboration with Birat Nursing Home Pvt. Ltd. and Birat International Diagnostic Lab Pvt. Ltd., organized the "Mega Health Camp" at Don Bosco School. The camp was held from 10 am to 5 pm, and provided comprehensive medical services.
        The camp featured a team of dedicated healthcare professionals, including general physicians, gynecologists, dermatologists, ENT specialists, and orthopedic doctors. Services included free medicines, Electrocardiogram (ECG), ultrasound, and blood pressure tests.
        Maruti Pharma Pvt. Ltd. from Birgunj and Amtech Med Pvt. Ltd. generously sponsored the medicines, ensuring that the health camp could offer essential healthcare services to those in need.
        Program was graced by government bodies and dignities. 10 Rotractors from Nobel Medical College attended the program.

              Rotary Club of Biratnagar Downtown provided hot and nutritional meals to all school bodies of Shiv Aadharbhut Vidyalaya and Panchali Sanskrit Vidyalaya on 5th of August. The purpose is to give tasty and nutritious meals and attract students to come to school regularly. It was very satisfying seeing the children fulfilled. There was puri, sabji, kheer, jalebi in the meal. Club members along with family, friends and Rotactors were involved there.
              We organized a Handwriting Competition in Shiv Adarbhut Vidyalaya for all students class wise. Students participated with great interest.
              The Rotary Nepal Literacy Mission (RNLM) for children is a vital initiative in today's society, addressing the pressing need for education. RC of Biratnagar Downtown organized a program on "World literacy Day" where we distributed school uniforms, shoes, socks, school bags, water bottle, stationary, snacks, and juice to all 149 students in our adopted school, Shiv Aadharbhut Vidyalaya, Belgachi-1. Prizes for the handwriting competition were also distributed to the students.
              As part of our social welfare initiative, donations of basic amenities and stationery were provided to underprivileged students benefiting from tuition centers operated by Nagar Palika, offering free coaching education. A total of 55 students were the recipients of this thoughtful gesture. The donated items, including stationery supplies, which fulfilled their academic needs for the entire year.
              RC of Biratnagar Downtown generously donated a diverse collection of moral and educational books to the Adarsh Pustakalaya in Brt. This thoughtful donation from our club positively impacted the community promoting literacy, education and overall well being.

              RC of Biratnagar Downtown celebrated “Children's Day” with children affected by cerebral palsy in our own CP Day Care Center which is being run from 2015 by our club, leaving a profound impact on both the kids and club members.We spent a day by cutting cake, giving away a pair of T-shirts for all the kids and parents, goody bags with biscuits, chocolates, Horlicks bottle, hygiene kits, some playing materials.
              Our club also celebrated "World Cerebral Palsy Day" bringing together children with cerebral palsy and multiple disabilities. The event featured oral check-ups to ensure their overall health. To raise awareness and inspire, a short movie was screened.
              A team of two doctors Dr. Abhishek Verma and Dr. Meera along with an assistant doctor from Awadh Narayan Memorial Hospital provided free dental checkup to 90 multiple disabilities children including our Cerebral Palsy day care center children.Tooth brush, tooth paste, biscuits, juices and cupcakes were distributed to them.
              On the marked occasion of "WORLD DISABLED DAY" RCBD joined hands with Shri Shri Ravishankar Vidya Mandir to organize a heartwarming program for "Cerebral Palsy" children. Art activities, playing on swings, and various enjoyable moments were shared, creating a vibrant atmosphere.
              The kids were overjoyed and the smile on these children's faces is something beyond the world.

It was a three day session with full interaction with the kids, they shared their feelings through words, poems and emotions.
                On “World Mental Health Day”, our club hosted a meditative workshop. The event aimed to raise awareness about the importance of mental health well- being and impart practical meditation and techniques.
                A talk show and awareness pgm was organized on “ADDICTION and PREVENTION” addressing the alarming issue of smoking and drinking addiction among grade 8, 9 and 10 students. PP. Rtn. Raj Kumari Todi was the resource person for all the programs. It took three hours daily.

                                Earlier,President,Rtn.Rekha Rathi,Service Project chair,Rtn.Santosh Todi and Rotaracts had conducted the survey in all the houses of Kharji village to ascertain the number of dropout students especially girls and find out the reason for the same.We then arranged a meeting with the guardians and our Past President, Rtn.Santosh Jain made them aware of the importance of education.
                                We were successful in bringing 24 girls back to school.We distributed 2 sets of school uniform, school shoes,2 pairs of socks, copies and stationary to all the 24 girl students. Also,we are continuing our last year's Back to School project, wherein we are providing transportation facility to 30 students, for their pick-up and drop from home to school, at Shree Bakhari Adharbhoot Vidhyalaya,Bakhari.We have given the fare amount from 1st July till Dashain vacation to the auto-richshaw driver

                              • Baldiwas was celebrated with the students of Shree Jyoti Adharbhoot Vidhyalay of adopted village, Kharji.
                                A motivational movie based on Panchatantra tales was shown to the students to enroot moral values in them,since each tale has a moral lesson in its end.
                                The motive was to teach the children the right things from a very early age,so that they grow up into cultured individuals. Our club member,choreographer,Rtn.Nidhi Rathi made all the students dance.They were overjoyed and had a memorable time.Snack boxes,toffees,wai wai and toys was also given to all the students.
                                All of them were very happy and they enjoyed a lot,as it was for the first time that they watched a movie and danced on music.

The medical team from Self Help Group Cerebral Palsy (SGCP) examined 15 kids of our CP centre and 9 kids from outside. Dr.Pragya Karmacharya,Paediatric,specialised in EEG,Medha Koirala,Speech therapist,Manoj kumar Shah,Physiotherapist and Reenu Vaidya were the medical team from Kathmandu.                               • To support RNLM, sports,drawing and handwriting competitions were organized for the underprivileged students studying at Shree Jyoti Adharbhoot Vidhyalay,Kharji in the Literacy month.Such competitions were never organized in the school earlier, so the kids were very excited to participate and enjoyed a lot. Prizes were distributed to all the winners. We will be organizing such competitions regularly in the school. This will develop interest in students and motivate them to come to school regularly, thus increasing the attendance. It will also encourage dropouts to come back to school. It will support RNLM's goal of total literacy in Nepal.

                              • RC of Biratnagar Downtown distributed street vendors umbrellas with Rotary Emblem and Club’s name printed on them to 15 females who are working as road side vegetable vendors. Members conducted assessment and realized the need to empower women after seeing them under scorching sun and lashing rains to earn for their families. The club mitigates their difficulties of selling and spoilage of vegetables and fruits in adverse climatic conditions. As they run business on a very small scale, their investment is at risk, during monsoons and summers. These umbrellas will serve as useful protective device enabling them to sell comfortably and in a conducive atmosphere. It will thus increase their sale and make them financially stronger. 15 families will be benefitted by this project. IPDG Rtn.Santosh Rijal graced the program as the Chief Guest.Assistant Governor,Rtn.Kamal Agrawal and club members attended the program.

It was organized to aware and educate 150 students of different schools about the impact of climate change on different aspects of our lives and importance of understanding the environment's vulnerability and protecting it. She educated the gathering about Rotary and highlighted our club's project.The Chief Guest of the program was Biratnagar Municipality Mayor, Mr. Nagesh Koirala and the speakers were Mr.Prayash Adhikari, Mr. Abhishek Shrestha and Mrs. Tanuja Pandey. The students were also made to participate in a fun filled group activity to apply their knowledge & vision to protect the environment.                                 32 stalls which exhibits Clothes, Rakhis, Artificial Jewelleries, Household products, Decorative items, Handicrafts, Foods attracted more than 5000 people from all the different communities.
                                Main aim of the event was to Empower Women by providing them platform to exhibit their crafts, showcase their talents and promote their business.
                                35 Women and Families were benefited from this event and 53 Non-Rotary Organisations including Banks,Insurance Companies,Business Institutions and Educational Institutions supported our event.
                                The other attractions were live music and mandala art workshop for children.We acknowledged all our sponsors with a certificate of appreciation with Rotary's 4-wat test printed on it,thus enhancing Rotary's Image.

                                To keep Nepal Polio free,an awareness program was organised at the adopted village,Kharji. Club's Charter President,Rtn.Dr.Mamta Verma addressed the gathering and informed them about Rotary's efforts to end polio globally.
                                To make the program effective and impactful,the RCC members performed a small play.
                                Dr.Mamta Verma not only directed the play,but also wrote the script in local language to make it understandable to the villagers. She also emphasized on the importance of polio drops.
                                Play cards and sashes were used to make the program effective. Participants included club members,Rotaracts,RCC members,school students and media person.
                                More than 150 people were benefitted by this program.

It had not just free eye checkup of all people of Manavsewa Ashram , Biratnagar Branch but also had set up for refraction and providing free spectacles to those who needed. 18 people detected with cataract issues were done free surgery on 3rd March,2022 by Ramlal Golchha eye hospital. Free Medicines were also provided to those who needed.snack boxes were distributed to all the people of Manavsewa Ashram.80 mentally challenged people of ashram along with their staffs were benefited from this project.

Mushrooms in the first phase were harvested in 45 days in excellent quantity & quality. Women are very happy with good production & now they have opted this as their profession to earn a livelihood.

                              • Our Rotaract Ranjana Khadka approached for help for her mother, who is in Neuro rehab after a major surgery at Nobel Hospital, Biratnagar.
                                On July 17th, Club Secretary Rtn. Girija Sarda visited her mother and also tried to assess the nature of support that could be provided.
                                Team of four people visited the noble hospital on 22nd July handed over a sum of 51,000 rupees and arranged medicines at discounted prices & arranged for discounts in Hospital Bills as well.
                                She was again helped on 4th September. We handed over a sum of 11,000 rupees to our Rotaract member Akriti Bhandari through Club Secretary , who visited the hospital and handed over the money.

                                Our Club handed over to Swasthya chauki Adhikrit Sunil Bhagat in presence of Chief Guest Ward President Khushilal Majhi of ward number 12 of Purv Kushaha gaon palika to support the need of drinking water for pregnant women of the village who get admitted for deliveries in swasthya chauki.
                                15 people joined and many women along with staff will be benefitted.
                                Another women organization, Nepal Maheshwari Mahila Sangathan joined hands in this project.

                                • On 29th December, 2017 Rotary Club of Biratnagar Downtown hosted " Inter City Meeting "on " Menstrual Hygiene & Women's Health " in collaboration with Rotary Club of Biratnagar Central & Rotary Club of Biratnagar Fusion. We were honored by the presence of guest speakers Dr. Arunna Pokhrel from Noble Hospital & Mrs. Bishnu Pant Sharma from ABC Nepal. ICM Chair Rtn. Prakash Chandra Pradhan, Member Rtn. Rachna Rathi, Regional coordinator committee chair Rtn. Nabanita Rijal, PDG & ARRFC Rtn. Basu Dev Golyan were present. Regional coordinator committee Advisor Rtn. Benigopal Mundra was invited as our chief guest. Approximately 50 students from different schools & colleges participated in the program. 30 RCC members were also present. We were also joined by fellow Rotarians, Interactors, friends and family. Total gathering was above 100. The program was very interactive & participatory.

                                • Rotary Club of Biratnagar Downtown organized an awareness programme on Organic Farming at Ramgunj, Belgachhia on 2nd of November 2017. Dr. Rajandra Upreti, Senior Agriculture Extension Officer, Regional Agriculture Directorate was the resource person. Local farmers and villages attended the programme. Dr. Upreti gave many important information about organic farming like (New techniques, grow crops without pesticide, preparation of Natural Manure from waste food material, seeds and soon) to the farmers. Farmers enjoyed the programme very much because first time they had an opportunity to meet such a knowledgeable person in this field.
                                  Farmers were very happy to interact with Dr. Upreti ji. And after the programme they also requested us for further training. Rotarians, Farmers, RCC members and villagers were present there.
                                  100 people were benefited.

                                • To mark World Polio Day, Rotary Club of Biratnagar Downtown organized an awareness rally to "End Polio Now : Make History Today" on 24th October 2017. Around 250 people took part in the rally including Rotarians, Rotaractars, RCC members and students from different colleges Principal and teachers of Adarsh Vidyalaya also participated in the rally.
                                  NNPPC member and Charter President of our club Rtn. Dr. Mamta Varma told the gathering about present polio status of the world and Rtn. Beni Gopal Mundra told about polio disease and RI efforts to eradicate it. The rally went round the city and retuned to Rotary Bhawan where the participants enjoyed a sumptios breakfast.
                                  People where reminded to continue the take of Polio drop to keep Nepal free. T-shirts, Caps, and Pamphlets where distributed in assistance with Nepal National Polio Plus Community.
                                  The awareness rally where broadcasted in Makalu Television and was published in Newspaper.

Snacks &, juices were served to all the orphans, staffs, manager, & teachers of the orphanage. Besides this, fruits, wai wai, biscuits, kurkure & chocolates were also given to the orphans.

                              • Flood Relief Food & Materials Distribution

                                • Biratnagar and nearby villages had been badly effected due to 3 days continuous rain. Our RCC members informed us about the acute need of food materials in Bakri village. On 14th of August, we went to Bakri village to distribute flood relief food among the needy, homeless, flood victims. We distributed 200 packets of waiwai, biscuits, chocolates, 60 kg chiwra and old clothes among the 200 villagers.On 15th of August, we went to Dadarberia, another place which was very badly affected by the flood, and we arranged hot food for 500 people. On 15th of August, our Charter President Rtn. Dr. Mamta Verma Verma and Dr. Narayan Verma and their medical team went to the Ikrahi village and handed over relief material to the village head. An awareness program regarding rainy season disease was also held in Ikrahi under their her supervision. On 19th August 2017, RC Biratnagar Downtown jointly organised a " Flood relief material distribution programme " along with 4 other Rotary clubs of zone-24. The program was held at Ginahat, ward no 19, Biratnagar a severely affected area by the flood. We distributed 500 kits which consisted of Tirpal, Mosquito net, Sanitary pads, Bathing soap, Laundry soap and Phenyl, to the victims. Rotary club of Biratnagar Downtown distributed flood relief kits on 26th August, 2017 at Budha Nagar, Morang an another severely affected area by the flood. To provide the victims immediate and practical help we distributed 100 kg rice & 65 kits which consisted of Tirpal, Mosquito net, Sanitary pads, Bathing soap, Laundry soap and Phenyl.

                                • Rotary club of downtown organized a mega event – SHRAWAN MELA, a 2 days Trade Fair 21th and 22nd July 2017 at Atithi Sadan, Biratnagar to promote women Entrepreneurship. 35 stalls which exhibit cloth jewellery, bed cover, rakhis, footwear, handicrafts, game, food, etc. attracted more than 2500 people from all communities. More than 100 women entrepreneur who need a platform to promote the cottage business were benefited. Honourable Mrs. Indrira Karki, Vice Mayor of Biratnagar graced the occasion as Chief Guest and our Esteem Assistant Governor Rtn. Sushil Rijal also graced the occasion as Guest of honour.
                                  Rotary club of Biratnagar Downtown provided the platform for women with their kids by organising a programme “Mom & Kid” show on 21st August 2017, at Atithi Sadan, to enhance their quality and to boost their confidence. 8 pairs of mom and kid were participated in the programme. One of our new member Rtn. Santosh Rathi was also participated. Ladies and kids enjoyed a lot. Kids were very happy because first time they had an opportunity to perform with their mom. Family members of participant, as well as the gathering of 1500 enjoyed the programme.
                                  Rotary Club of Biratnagar Downtown organized a play “PRAYAS” for C.P. children on 22nd July, 2017 at Atithi Sadan. C.P. care centre is our signature project which is run by our club at Adarsh Madhyamic Vidyalaya, Biratnagar, for the time being. It is our dream to construct a full-fledged C.P. building for which land has been donated to us. There are 15 children who are given Physiotherapy, Speech therapy, Transportation facility and Mid-day meals. The main aim of this play was to make people aware of this disease and to encourage them to help us by providing fund for the construction of building.Club members participated in this play in front of a gathering of 1500 guest.

                                • Joint Installation Ceremony of Rotary Club of Biratnagar Downtown & Rotary Club of Biratnagar Fusion was held on 15th July, 2017, at Hotel Harrison Palace, Biratnagar, in the presence of a huge gathering of about 200 people. Honourable Ms. Sapana Pradhan Malla, Justice Supreme Court of Nepal graced the occasion as Chief Guest.
                                  Guest of Honour PDG, ARRFC Rtn. Basu Dev Golyan and our Assistant Governor Rtn. Shushil Rijal was also present. Rtn. Archana Sharma became our 13th President of our club. 3 new members Rtn. Mukta Todi, Rtn. Soni Nevatia & Rtn. Santosh Rathi were inducted. PP Rtn. Kiran Karna & PP Rtn. Madhu Kabra were recognized for being the Major Donor in the Rotary year 2016-17, IPP Rtn. Sunita Agrawal was recognized for being the MPHF, 4 members from PP Rtn. Madhu Kabra’s Family – Rtn. Sharad Kabra, Rtn. Shreeja Kabra, Ritu Kabra & Little Grandson Aavyaan were recognized as PHF.
                                  Pins and Certificates were presented by PDG, ARRFC Rtn. Basu Dev Golyan. Under Scholarship award 2 needy and meritorious students Priya Dutta and Pushpa Kumari Kurmi were awarded Rs. 11000/- each by PP Rtn. Kiran Karna in the memory of her Late Mother Mrs. Geeta Das under Geeta Das Smriti Chatravriti and another 2 scholar students Saraswati Rajbansi & Ganga Maya Rai were also awarded Rs. 5100/- each by Family of our Late member Sabita Agrawal.
                                  Bhisnu Pant Sharma Acharya was given Rotary Vocation Excellence Award for her service in the field of social work in Anti Human Trafficking & Women & Child Welfare.
