This project combined disaster relief with preventive healthcare, addressing the rising threat of dengue and mosquito-borne diseases in flood-affected areas of Biratnagar. It reflected Rotary’s quick, compassionate, and practical response to an urgent community health need.
Facts & Figures
Support
The project was successfully implemented with the support and coordination of RCC Head Mr. Birendra Prasad Mandal, who helped identify the most deserving families and assisted in distribution logistics. His local knowledge ensured the nets reached genuinely needy households. Rotary Club of Biratnagar Downtown members contributed financially and actively participated in the field activity.
Beneficiaries
The beneficiaries were 70 low-income families residing in flood-prone areas, where stagnant water had created a high risk of mosquito breeding. These families, already struggling due to property loss from floods, received immediate protection from dengue and malaria threats.
Impact/Outcome
The project provided both immediate relief and long-term health protection. By distributing quality double bed-size mosquito nets, Rotary ensured that families—especially children and elderly members—were safe from dengue and malaria. The community gained awareness about hygiene, sanitation, and preventive health measures. The project also strengthened Rotary’s image as a responsive and health-conscious organization, earning appreciation from local residents.
