The Rotary Club of Biratnagar Downtown, in collaboration with Ramlal Golchha Eye Hospital and Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology, organized a Diabetic Retinopathy Screening Camp, running from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, with 11 Downtown members present at the site.
A total of 175 patients were screened during the camp, of whom 14 patients were diagnosed with diabetic retinopathy. Of these, 4 patients were referred to Ramlal Golchha Eye Hospital for advanced evaluation and specialized treatment, with the hospital offering a 75% discount on treatment costs.
Additionally, 15 patients were diagnosed with cataracts and selected for cataract surgery at Ramlal Golchha Eye Hospital, to be performed free of cost, fully borne by the hospital. 17 patients requiring near-vision correction were provided with free reading glasses on site, donated by Optho Tech Industries. Patients requiring further care were also given eye medications at the campsite, the cost of which was fully covered by the Rotary Club of Biratnagar Downtown.
In recognition of their support, certificates and tokens of love were presented to the health post manager and the medical staff of Ramlal Golchha Eye Hospital.
The camp was organized within a total budget of Rs. 18,660/-, benefiting 175 people.
Overall, the camp made quality eye care more accessible, encouraged early diagnosis, and contributed to preventing avoidable blindness.
