The Rotary Club of Biratnagar Downtown, in collaboration with Ramlal Golchha Eye Hospital and Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology, organized a Free Eye-Screening Camp at Jilla Prahari Karyalay, running from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM. 6 Downtown members were present at the campsite, contributing a total of 7 volunteer hours.
A total of 175 patients were screened during the camp, with a few patients referred for further hospital evaluation and treatment. 63 patients requiring near-vision correction were provided with free reading glasses on site. Patients requiring further care were also given eye medications at the campsite, the cost of which was fully borne by the Rotary Club of Biratnagar Downtown.
The camp was graced by notable visitors, including District Secretary Rtn. Gautam Shrestha, Public Image Chair Rtn. Chhongba Sherpa, and President-Elect Rtn. Binod Lama of RC Greenland. In recognition of their support, certificates and tokens of love were presented to SP Kabit Katawal of the Police District Office Morang, and the medical staff of Ramlal Golchha Eye Hospital.
The camp was organized within a total budget of Rs. 11,600/-, benefiting 175 people.
Overall, the camp increased awareness about regular eye check-ups and eye health within the community, reaffirming the Rotary Club of Biratnagar Downtown’s commitment to accessible and affordable healthcare.
